WHO WE SUPPORT

Our mission

Quiet Cove Foundation’s mission is to seek out innovative solutions to large scale social issues.

ALL HANDS AND HEARTS

All Hands and Hearts (AHAH) addresses the immediate and long-term needs of communities impacted by natural disasters. Through the generosity of donors, they provide volunteers with free, on-the-job training, enable direct impact and rebuild safe, disaster-resilient infrastructure. Quiet Cove Foundation has supported AHAH with five school rebuild and repair programs across Peru and Mexico. This impact has allowed more than 1,000 students to learn in schools that are now resilient to future natural disasters.

BACKPACK BUDDIES PROGRAM

The Backpack Buddies Program is dedicated to ending the weekend hunger gap faced by children who rely on school meal programs Monday-Friday. On Friday afternoons, Backpacks full of food are delivered to schools around Metro Vancouver for students to take home for weekend consumption. Each Backpack contains 6 meals, fresh fruit and snacks, ensuring each child who receives one is well taken care of all weekend long.

The method through which Backpack Buddies achieves this goal is what makes it truly innovative. The program partners schools from communities with the means to give with inner city schools. Each “buddy” school is tasked with holding fundraisers and food drives and physically packing the Backpacks of food for delivery. The goal is to create a more empathic youth while simultaneously providing a real service to children in need.

ELEVATE

Elevate is a social business builder that brings entrepreneurial solutions to global poverty. Elevate builds, invests start-up capital into, and manages local agribusinesses that work with smallholder farmers and fishers.

For farmers and farming communities, Elevate improves livelihoods by boosting agricultural productivity, creating job opportunities, and cementing long-term market linkages so they can lift themselves out of poverty. Elevate currently manages agribusinesses in Colombia, El Salvador, and Haiti, with plans to replicate the model across Latin America and the Caribbean. Across its agribusinesses, Elevate has impacted more than 13,600 farmers and farm workers and generated more than $38m in farmer income.

POWER TO BE

Based in Victoria and Vancouver, Power To Be works to remove cognitive, physical and social barriers to the outdoors, supporting participants to explore who they are and what they are capable of. Power To Be believes physical activity and time outdoors is paramount to health and happiness, and that no one should be excluded from nature, recreation or community.

Quiet Cove Foundation supports Power To Be’s Vancouver based adaptive programs, which provide opportunities for more than 400 children, youth and families to explore nature in and around Greater Vancouver. These ability-centered programs are led by Power To Be staff and allow people living with barriers to explore their limitless abilities in a truly inclusive environment.

THE BOYS CLUB NETWORK

The Boys Club Network (BCN) tackles one of contemporary Canada’s most misunderstood and undersupported social issues – that of young men aged 12-18 seeking connection with positive male role models.  BCN identifies and lifts these lost boys up, and with a proven curricula of Hope, Opportunity, Positive Mentorship and Education, restores their personal accountability; and their confidence in themselves, in adults, and in society’s collective future.

BCN is a privately-funded registered Canadian charity founded and administered by accredited educators, operating throughout BC, and supported by a Network of +250 mentors from all walks of life.  All BCN programs — after school clubs, and a Ministry of Education approved in-class curriculum course — are based on the foundational principles of mentorship and connection, as tools for teaching, healing and prevention.
